Permit FAQs
  • You must log in to the Permitting system to apply for a permit. If you do not have an account, you can create one at any time. Permits are issued to individuals only, never to business entities.

  • Log in to your account to check the status of your permit application. You will find your application and its status listed on your account home page. Please note that permit applications may take up to four weeks to process once payment has been received.

  • You will receive a notification email once your application has been approved and your permit is issued. Most permits are available to print by logging in to your account. Special instructions will be provided in the notification email if your permit cannot be printed from your account. Follow the instructions in the notification email to locate and print your permit.

  • You will be refunded $2.00 for each carp that was not authorized on the permit. The refund will be processed to the card used for payment and may take 7-10 business days from the date your permit was issued to show up in your account.

Trouble Logging In?
  • Check your spam and junk folders for the email containing the verification code if you do not see it in your inbox. If you cannot locate the email, click ‘Forgot Password’ on the log in page to request another verification code.
When you click ‘Forgot Password’, a screen will open that will prompt you to enter your username, which is the email used to set up your account. Enter your email and click Continue. A new page will open that provides a space to type in a verification code. Stay on that webpage - do not go back, close or leave that webpage. Access your email from your phone or open a new tab in your browser. Locate the email containing the verification code and enter it where prompted. Click Continue. You will then be prompted to set up your own password and log into your account.

  • You likely have an existing account already registered from a previous permit application or from use of the TWIMS or LMA systems. If you believe you may have an existing account, follow the Forgot Password option to attempt to access your account. If the Forgot Password process fails, email wpoffice@tpwd.texas.gov to request help with account set up, and indicate you may have an existing account that you need help to access. Provide the email you are using when attempting to register your account.

  • You may have a duplicated user account. Please email wpoffice@tpwd.texas.gov to request help with account access. Indicate you cannot access your existing account and provide the email you are using as your username.

  • Click the Forgot Password link to reset your password.

  • Email wpoffice@tpwd.texas.gov for assistance in retrieving the user name for your existing account. Provide your first and last name and a contact phone number in the email.
